Powerbrokers
The Leadership Pathways and Powerbrokers Advance programmes were delivered as part of the Cultural Leadership Programme, championed by its Director, Hilary Carty.  With an ambitious vision to change the face of 21st century leadership by supporting and promoting excellence in leadership through diversity, Powerbrokers is embedded within medar pysden's legacy portfolio of professional practice.

Powerbrokers aimed at providing a high level of intelligent leadership development programming. With an integrated support system designed and provided by medar pysden, working with a range of partnership organisations including the City University, IDeA, Caret, Freshwaters, Kings College Business School, the most committed of mid-career and established leaders have developed their leadership skills through our custom workshops, peer group sets and other personal and professional development activities, preparing themselves to take on challenging new assignments, international placements or career change. Developing Inspirational Leaders

Our method of learning and development consisted of four connected, but independently accessible, modular workshops or group work elements founded on robust strengths-based leadership analysis:

1. Emotional Intelligence Assessment Tools
2. Specialist Leadership Practice Labs
3. Peer Action Learning Sets
4. Inspired Debates, Dialogue Exchange and Networking 

These core activities are supplemented by one-to-one coaching/mentoring sessions, targeted signposting of leadership and professional development guidance. Our programme provides a range of alternative pathways, through our ability to increase access to opportunities via links, peers and partnerships.


Our programme of activities have included: CEO and Chair Intensive Leadership Workshops; InsidePower Leaderships breakfast & lunch-time debates; Strategic Management Development Courses - Essential Skills for Leaders; Tracking for Success/PALS© -360 peer review and action learning; Coaching/Mentoring programme; BuildStrengths© Leadership Days; Reflections Leadership;Communicating Leadership; Inspired Talks and PowerStepUp© dialogue and networking sessions.


Powerbrokers Place: 
the Powerbrokers Leadership and Creatively Enterprising Network

Launched in March 2011 at the Royal Society for the Arts. Powerbrokers Place: is a real-time network home for leaders who want to meet face-to-face and engage in conversation up close and personal. Building on the achievements and successful journeys of leaders who came through the Cultural Leadership Programme, Powerbrokers Place: links not only individuals, but also institutions and new networks in order to strengthen leadership, encourage innovation and build partnership opportunities. Among others means, using an action-based seminar format, together leaders find real-time solutions to key themes including inter-cultural partnerships for innovation, breaking out of creative networks, transferring “good” knowledge and going for growth through global exchange and trade.

7 July 2011 – Powerbrokers Place: "How to Break out of the Creative Network: Strategies for Successful Networking with Other Industries" in partnership with Hatch Events - Create the Future, featuring Yemisi Mokuolu

12 October 2011 – Powerbrokers Place: "Networks: Think Strategy. Think People. How to successfully extend your local and global networks" at the October Gallery. Featuring Val Tomlin of Valerie Tomlin Associates. July 2010 - Journeys & Discoveries

Journeys & Discoveries was an international confererence in partnership with Freshwaters Consultancy to acknowledge of diversity practice. Featuring key note speaker, Lord Boateng, contributors also included Paul Gladston Reid MBE CEO, Incredibly Creative Company, Sol B. River, Padma Rao and OP Jain Chair, Sanskriti Foundation. The event which celebrated the leadership journeys of British creative leaders and cultural entrepreneurs was held at the Wellcome Collection.
